A bike ride across... Iowa :)

Image
This week was Ragbrai, if you have not heard of this you can read about it here. It is a bike ride across the state of Iowa. People from all over the world come to the small state of Iowa and ride this bike year after year, this year there was about 10,000 people in the ride. Some people ride the entire ride this year is started in Sioux Center Iowa and will dip their front tires in the Mississippi river on Saturday in Clinton, IA,  each day the riders ride about 60-70 miles the average is 67 miles. They also have a different route for people who want more of a challenge. All the towns with over night stays have a big party for the riders and provide them with a great time. Last night Cedar Rapids had an over night stay with a Counting Crows as the entertainment! Cedar Rapids suffered a serious flood in 2008 and it was so great to see how the town has come back and how surprised people were of where the water was just 4 short years ago!

This year my home town was a ride through town and my parents took the day off from work to attend the festivities in town, my dad said it was a great experience and he ran into some old friends who recruited him to ride next year..... and since my dad is the best dad around he decided he would also recruit Joe and I to ride next year........... gee dad thanks :) Looks like training needed to start 3 months ago haha! Have you ever rode in Ragbrai or rode in a bike ride like this? I am looking forward to doing, if i do it :) I also think it would neat to go through all the little towns in Iowa that i have never been too!

Here is a couple pictures of the riders and a couple from my hometown stop :)

What I'm Loving Wednesday

It has been a few months since i have linked up with Jamie for What I'm Loving Wednesday! So i am happy to be back to it! Here are few things i am loving this week!

I'm Loving:  I am so excited because my sister and I are going to be doing the Color Run on October 6th in Des Moines. I will post more pictures after the run! I am hoping to do the run of the race so i can knock that off my 101 in 1001 days, but we shall see :)

Image
I'm Loving:  That i have quit biting my nails and that they actually look half way decent :) HAHA, lets hope i can keep it up!

I'm Loving:  That one of our bathrooms is being painted as we speak! Can't wait to see how it looks, i will post pictures when it is all done in the next week or so! What color is your bathroom? I think it is one of the hardest paint colors to choose!

I'm Loving:  That the opening ceremonies of the Olympics start on Friday! I am really looking forward to watching them! I love the swimming and gymnastics, what is your favorite part?

I'm Loving:  My sweet hubby and my adorable fur baby Macy :)
Can't wait to see what you are loving today!

Blake Shelton and 101 in 1001 days!

This past Friday, it was the Jones County Fair (If you live in Iowa you are familiar with this fair and the Iowa State Fair) and the usually get some really great concerts to go to this year the line up was Thursday night was Lynard Skynyrd, Friday night was Blake Shelton and Saturday was Toby Keith. Every the concerts get better and better!

So Friday after work we were off to the fair to get some oh so bad for you tasty treats at the fair, then we got our beer tickets and found our seats! Usually at the Jones County Fair it is SO hot and it usually rains, as it did last year. This year it cooled off to around 75 degrees and the concert was amazing!! Blake Shelton is so laid back and just a regular guy! Hands down one of the best concerts i have been to! Below are some pictures, but they are not the best, both my phone and camera were low on battery :( SO i apologize for some of the blurry pictures!

Here we are last year after the down pour of rain!~

Waiting for concert to start! Can't wait until next year!

I also have had this picture frame wall decor hanging in my house for well over a year..... I finally got some pictures together and got them hung up! I am excited about it haha! This was also on my 101 things in 1001 days to do! So i can check that off my list! I am hoping to get some other things checked off my list as well :) What do you think? It is hard to find pictures to fill all the spots! I also need to get my wedding pictures all up COUGH... COUGH it has almost been 5 years and i still do not have them all hung up......... :)

We are having some really hot weather along with 3/4 of the United States, yesterday it was like 104 here, but it appears we have some relief in sight, along with some much needed rain! How is the weather where you are?

WOW, life in the last 2 months

It is hard to believe i have not blogged for almost 2 months! Life has just gotten busy with things and i always plan on blogging but end up having something else to get to! Sorry for that, i have been keeping up with everyone's blogs and reading about all your fun summer time activities!

So what has been going on in the world of Life with the Adams..

1. It has been so hot in Iowa this summer we have been trying to do anything to stay cool, so we decided to buy a little pool, so we can relax in the backyard after work or on the weekends! It has been nice to have, i have been enjoying it after work and on the weekends that i am home, we bought a life jacket for Macy and a raft, but to say she doesn't like the pool is an under statement! She will let you hold her in the water and she loves, it but the second you put her in the water to "swim" she hates.. poor Macy!

Joe and my dad enjoying the pool.

On June 15th, Joe recieved a call that is grandfather who was 89 years old and lived in New Holland pennsylvania had passed away, Joe and his dad drove the 16 hour trip out that Saturday, my mother in law, sister in law and myself flew out on Tuesday, it was nice to see some of Joe's family that live on the East Coast that i have not met, in the almost 10 years we have been together. We went to Pennsylvania 2 summers ago to visit Charles, Joe was very happy we were able to do that, we had been talking about going again late this summer to visit and to also do some sight seeing on our drive out. It is sad to lose someone no matter how young or old they are. This was Joe's only living grandparent.

Joe, Charles and I in 2010.

On July 1st, my brother had called and said my sister in law was having some contractions and thinking the baby may be here sooner than later, they were planning to be induced on the 7th if she was not here by then, so my new niece arrived at 5:37 a.m. on July 2nd, she weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces and was 18.5 inches long and she is just a doll! Her name is Emma Paige and Lily just loves her! It is so sweet! SO be prepared for below, picture overload of my 2 sweet nieces!

This past weekend, my sister, Joe and I were able to head over to see the 4 of them and meet Emma, i have to tell you she is the cutest little thing! Emma sneezed a couple times and Lily says "bless you baby Emma" how cute is that!!

It was also so sweet how Joe was with Lily, he really does love that sweet little girl! It just melts my heart to know how good he is with little ones!

While we were visiting we went to downtown Naperville, to the shops, we had to hit up the Cookie Dough Creations, let me tell you the oppurtunity to get some cookie dough was great! (it didn't have any eggs in it) i got the Chocolate Chip Cookie dough and it was yummy! Joe decided to get the ice cream along with a scoop of cookie dough on top! He got peanut butter cookie dough, here is a picture of him enjoying his treat! :)

We also hit up Sugar Monkey Cupcakes they have the best flavors of cupcakes, who doesn't love a Cotton Candy cupcake! WOW, to say i had a small taste and my blood sugars were not happy with me is an understatement! Lily got the cutest little cupcake ring haha! She loved it! We got Cotton Candy, Lemon Raspberry with Cream Cheese frosting, Chocolate Chip, Smores, Lemon Raspberry and Cookies and Cream. I ate the Cotton Candy one and it was amazing!
Hopefully Lily is still enjoying her "cakes" ring!
I just love being an aunt! It so much fun to see these sweet girls! Macy also had her first "long" road trip! She did a good job, thankful for my sister sitting in the back seat with her! She is getting ready for the road trip! How cute is she! She also had fun playing with Lily and Petey while in Chicago! Lily just loves Macy, she kept saying where is Mace? Oh she is so cute! haha! What 2 year olds say!

Photo: Macy's first road trip :)
Well i have lots more to write and share, but i think i have done too much already! Hopefully you stayed with me! I am off to see Blake Shelton tonight in concert! So stay tuned for updates on that!
